Team Kahikatea

About

Team Kahikatea are the Year 2-3 team at Banks Avenue School. We have four teachers in our team who are all experienced in teaching at this level. We know how important it is to continue the great learning the children have been doing as Year 1's so there is a huge focus on literacy and numeracy. Our team has an understanding of the many cultures within our school and we work hard to ensure the children's language and culture is valued.

Over the last couple of years, we have been continuing to develop the way we work collaboratively and are continuing to experiment with new spaces as we move to our rebuilt school in 2022.  Ms Taylor teaches Year 2 and 3 learners in the Tūī (Room 15), Ms Gold teaches Year 2-3 learners in the Kiwi Learning Hub (Room 16) and Mrs Stowers and Mrs Savage teach Year 2-3 learners in Te Ope Kea. Teachers plan together to ensure that children get the best possible outcomes.

Children in this team are also taught to:
  • be creative and to ask questions.
  • be literate, numerate and competent ICT users.
  • be responsible for themselves, their belongings and their learning.
  • treat others how they want to be treated.
  • join in and work together.

Children...
