Enrolment
Pre-Enrolment
If your child will be attending Pareawa Banks Avenue School please check either with the office or use the Zone Online Map Tool below, to check that you live in our zone. If you do, we ask that you fill in a pre-enrolment form up to a year before they are due to start. This helps us to plan staffing and classes.
Enrolment Zone
Our enrolment scheme has been reviewed by the Ministry of Education in 2020 . Below is a link to an online tool to help you work out if you are in our school zone or not. Four easy steps:
We do not have any places available for out of zone applications unless your child is a sibling of a current pupil.
- Click on the 'Zone Online Map Tool' button below.
- Type in your home address. A list of nearby schools will appear to the left of the map.
- Look for Pareawa Banks Avenue School in the list.
- Select 'Show Zoning'. The map will show our zone and whether the address you typed in is in our zone or not.

Enrolment
Two-three months before your child is due to start please ring the office and make an appointment with our Principal, Toni Burnside. At this time you will be asked to fill in the formal enrolment form. You will need to bring a proof of address, birth certificate, passport or Plunket book to verify your child's date of birth. Please also bring your child's immunisation record. We like children to be present at this appointment.
If your child has educational learning support or behavioural needs please contact us at least 6 months before they are due to start. This allows us to work with you in order to plan a successful transition to school.

Pre-Entry Visits
Tricia Carroll our Muringa Deputy Principal organises the junior school enrolments. You can contact her directly at: [email protected]
Starting School
We use Cohort Entry for New Entrants beginning school. We have two visits and two intake groups a term. This helps with a smooth transition for our new entrants into school life.
Finishing Time for New Entrants
We are finding that our children are benefitting from finishing at 2pm for the first couple of weeks, even if they have been at preschool full time. The class teacher will discuss your child's needs and options for finishing times with you.
Muringa New Entrants
If your child is a new entrant they will be placed in 'Kiwakiwa' which is in the Muringa module:
- Kiwakiwa Tahi with either Mrs Phillipa Ford or Mrs Emma Derrick
- Kiwakiwa Rua with Mrs Sally Kent.
Muringa & Pāhake
For year 1-6 students we look at class numbers, students achievement and pastoral needs to work out the best placement for your child.
