Board Member - Phillip Black
Hi
I am Phil Black. I am married to Susannah and we have 3 boys aged 11, 8 and 4. The two oldest boys Oscar and Archie are currently at Pareawa Banks Ave in Manakura and Kōtukutuku. Our youngest Henry will be joining the Pareawa Banks Avenue whanau on our new site in 2023! Born and bred in Otautahi I grew up in the West but brought to the East by Mrs Black. |
Since leaving University many years ago I have worked in the International Freight industry which included a wee stint working in the USA. Currently I am the Christchurch Branch Manager for Vanguard Logistics a wholesale freight company. We have a container packing/unpacking warehouse and 6 metro trucks delivering/collecting freight around Otautahi.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with the whanau. Whether it be sports myself, coaching the boys sports teams or just outside with the boys it's always a busy time. Whitebaiting is also a passion and the boys are slowly getting this too. Running is my chill out time, having completed a marathon, the Coast to Coast run and alot of half marathons, you will find me in Bottle Lake most Sunday mornings running with mates and our dog Tama.
This is my 2nd term as a Board member. The reason I joined the Board is to be a part of my boys schooling and to understand how a school is run. I hope that my skill set from my day job may help on the board. It's exciting we are now finally in our new school so the board will have different roles now we are not helping design and move a school. I am excited to be a part of the Board, to learn more about the school and to help drive our school to be the best and provide the best schooling for all children attending Pareawa Banks Avenue.
You will find me picking up the boys most Tuesday’s so don't be afraid to stop me and have a chat.
