Board Member - Glenn BongartzMy partner Variny and I (20 years together) have a child who is at High School, and a year 5 pupil at Pareawa Banks Ave, so I have been through all the years at Pareawa Banks Avenue and still have a few years left.
I have served on many Boards and Committees. I am a sucker for punishment. What is rewarding is helping our community and city move forward. I was on rebuild committees for The Educational Child Care Centre, Christchurch Golf Club, Christchurch Golf Club Drain upgrade, working with the CCC on this asset for the city, for both flood protection and cleaning waste water, now on the Banks Ave rebuild committee, to build the best possible school we can. |
I am still involved with East Shirley Cricket, Avon Hockey and the Christchurch Golf Club. When on a board I try to take all personal agendas and personality differences off the table to solve each problem in a clear and logical way that makes the organisation a better place for current and future stakeholders.
My business background ranges from a Auctioneer at Turners Auctions, TV3, Canterbury Clothing to Marketing Manager at Canterbury Cricket, running my own small car and campervan rental business, creating apps and have a New Zealand information website. I now devote my time to looking after our 2 children and I have just finished project managing the full rebuild of our earthquake damaged house....it was worth the wait.
I enjoy working with our board, principal and management team in an exciting time in the history of Pareawa Banks Avenue School.
We all have to give back at some stage to help our community be a better place.
