Hank is a kind boy who smiles and is happy and helpful. He gives of his best. Even when the learning is tricky he perseveres with his learning tasks.

Week 4, 4 November 2015Phoenix and Sean have both been part of a written language group with Mrs Edmonds. She is really impressed with their attitude and effort and the progress they have made. Both boys have made the most of the learning opportunity provided to them. Well done Phoenix and Sean. Keep up the great work boys!

Week 5, 11 November 2015
Reese in Room 26 has been entered into the Mean Green Home Competition. Reese had to design a house, build a model and present a power point presentation to her peers.
Reese worked really hard and was nominated best at school with her work being entered into the competition. Well done Reese! |

Week 1, 14 October 2015Nouveau is our 'Hot Shot' Learner. He is such a conscientious worker. He loves dinosaurs and loves being in Room 11!

Week 2, 21 October 2015Tane in Room 8 is our 'Super Star Learner' this week. We read 'The Big Idea', then the children were asked to write their own responses to the 'Big Idea' book.

Week 3, 28 October 2015Blade has been working very hard at his number lines in maths. His teachers, Ms Thompson and Mr Josland have noticed an excellent attitude towards his learning.

Week 3: 5 August 2015Tangaroa is one of our best writers in the whole school. When he was asked what makes a great writer he said,
‘You need to think!’ Seems obvious doesn’t it but lots of children have trouble thinking of ideas – not Tangaroa! |
Week 4, 12 August 2015Jeki from Room 16 has just begun Reading Recovery lessons and is making huge progress. His class teacher, Mrs Stowers, Mrs Bagnall, Reading Recovery teacher and Mrs Cook, ESOL teacher, are all very proud of his improvement.

Congratulations to Daniel from Room 27. Daniel was helping out with our junior cross country last week when he noticed young Jamie looking a bit lost. Daniel supported our young runner and finished the cross country with him. Well done Daniel. You are our very own Banks Ave, 'Good Sort'.

Luke has displayed our school value of empathy. He was aware of a child in the playground hurting other children so he made sure an adult was aware of it so the problem could be solved. This kind of pro-active, caring student is the foundation of the culture we are building at Banks Avenue School.

Ashton and Daniel have been taking some great photos of our school for our new website. They can be trusted to take great care of the camera and use their initiative to ensure it is all ready to be used again at any time. Thanks boys!

Duncan is a Year 5 student who started at Banks Avenue School at the beginning of this term. He describes his time at Hanmer Springs camp as fantastic! He has always been quick to complete his work to a high standard. Well done Duncan!

Daniel from Room 16 is a good all rounder. He is very caring and has excellent manners and behaviour. Daniel is a top reader who puts 100% effort into learning his weekly spelling words. He is well deserving of this honour. Well done Daniel!

Week 11: 1 July 2015Otis E from Room 27 has a sharp intellect and he shows leadership with his opinions and acts as an advocate for change. He initiated the idea of wrist bands for our milk monitors and wrote to Fonterra. They are now rolling out this initiative to all schools nationwide.
